Back from Patagonia

28th March 2013
I have just returned from just over 3 weeks backpacking and trekking in Argentina and Chilean Patagonia. Many new images from the trip will be uploaded shortly so check back in the next few days. Despite the often publicized high winds and rainy weather, conditions proved to be fantastic for logging over 100 miles on the trails in Torres del Paine National Park and Los Glaciers National Park. At times, the weather was too clear and settled to produce those surreal lenticular clouds which are trademark Patagonia. While the classic mountain ranges dominated the landscape, my most memorable moment from the trip occurred while photographing Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre atop a nearby mountain top. An Andean Condor, the 2nd largest flying bird in the world, floated up to me and hovered for a moment along side me. I was shocked and amazed all at once, as we looked at each other eye to eye separated by only 10 feet. Before I could get my camera pointed in its direction, it had soared high above me. Hope you enjoy the new photos!
