Traversing New Hampshire's Presidential Range in a day provides spectacular views for nearly 20 miles above tree line in some of the most dramatic alpine vistas the White Mountains can offer. One of my favorite views is near Mount Clay looking to the northern edge of the range. Mounts Jefferson, Adams, and Madison are by far the most stunning encountered during the traverse. Most single day traverses begin before sunrise and can be completed in the late afternoon. Thirteen hours of hiking is not uncommon, with over 9,000 ft. of elevation gain. Pure joy or misery depending on the weather!
