Belly River Valley

Granite walls and spires mark the Continental Divide in this view as I head toward the Ptarmigan Tunnel in Glacier National Park's wild northern tier. Elizabeth Lake is in the FG, Helen Lake in the distant middle-left. Iceberg Peak forms the left bookend of the image. 2 images were used to create the expansive view. Valley conifers exhibit the signs "winter burn" from warm Chinook winds, then rapid cooling as temperatures fall.
