Maria Luisa Memorial International Photography Competition

I was honored to have received an award in the Mountain Landscape category in the 36th Annual Maria Luisa Memorial International Photography Competition for an image taken in the Peruvian Andes of the peak Alpamayo. The Spain based competition is one of the most respected and long-standing nature showcases, having been established in 1990. Over 18,000 images were submitted to this year's competition from 78 counties, so I was very pleased to be selected in the top 5 in the Mountain Landscape category. My image of Alpamayo was taken during a trek in the Cordillera Blanca range of the Peruvian Andes. Shortly after sunrise, clouds parted to reveal the upper reaches of the glaciated summit of the 19,512 foot peak.
