Ode to Winter
There is nothing like a fresh coat of snow to simplify a landscape and help create order out of chaos. I searched out this simple composition in the San Juan Mountains near Telluride, and returned several times during my stay, hoping to capture the right play of shadows, clouds, and sky surrounding these aspen. Because colorful skies didn't present themselves, I knew the image was better suited in monochrome.
