Upper Falls Winter Thaw

The Upper Falls of the Ammonoosuc River experienced a late December thaw and rain, followed by a spattering of snow. The melt opened up the river for a short period until winter's grip returned but the colorful ice red stained granite made for an unusually colorful winter scene. I check out these falls each time I ski by them at Bretton Woods.
