Serenity - Lake Umbagog

Pickerelweed took center stage for this image of Lake Umbagog due its luminescent quality when backlit by the late morning sun. The bottom mud and sediments were very soft, and sinking in to the point that I could not extract myself was a real concern. I decided to use an extension ladder that I had access to and dropped it into the lake, then carefully walked out on the submerged ladder to get close to the pickerelweed with a wide angle lens. The ladder acted as a large snowshoe and dispersed my weight. The mountains of Maine are in the distance.
